Meeting at CEIP Pintor Félix Revello de Toro

UDL TRAINING SESSION: LEARNING TO REMOVE BARRIERS

On our last BILITRAMS meeting, we finished the UDL training course led by Daniel Lastra Mercado. It was a very enriching session in which we had the opportunity to reflect on inclusive teaching practices and share ideas that can help us respond to the different needs we currently find in our classrooms.

During the first part of the session, we reviewed the tasks we had previously designed about planning a lesson while removing learning barriers. We analysed them following the POP technique (Predict / Overcome / Plan), which allowed us to reflect on possible difficulties our students may face and how to anticipate and overcome them through a more inclusive approach.

The second part of the training¡ was focused on the development of multilevel activities. Following Bloom’s Taxonomy, we explored the principles of multilevel instruction and discussed how adapting activities to different levels and learning styles has become essential nowadays in order to attend to the diversity present in our classrooms.

Finally, we worked on assessment, taking into account the UDL principles and the current educational regulations. We shared ideas and practical examples about how to make assessment more accessible, flexible and meaningful for all students.

It was undoubtedly a very productive and inspiring session, full of useful ideas and concepts that we still need to continue internalising and putting into practice.

As usual in our meetings, we also enjoyed our traditional “Bilitrams Tea”. Due to the training schedule, this time we had our tea break halfway through the session, but that did not stop us from enjoying a pleasant and relaxing moment together while sharing some delicious sweets.

These meetings continue to be a wonderful opportunity to learn from one another, grow professionally and strengthen the bonds within our BILITRAMS team.

MEETING AT CEIP PROFESOR ENRIQUE TIERNO GALVÁN

On Wednesday, March 11, our BILITRAMS team met at Profesor Enrique Tierno Galván school to hold the first training session of this academic year: an online session with a teacher from Jaén called Daniel .

The first session was somewhat more theoretical, in which we examined the UDL principles to be considered in the bilingual classroom, identifying them to minimize barriers in CLIL, and we identified the prerequisites for designing learning situations, together with L2 acquisition.

Daniel then asked us for feedback on this first session, which was very positive, as we were able to exchange experiences and collaborate on a Padlet, and he sent us a task that we will have to share on our Drive.

We decided to focus the next session on multilevel activities and on assessment in the bilingual UDL classroom.

We discussed the Inter-school activities: the Red Nose Day activity (which will take place on April 24), on one hand and and Family Day on the other.

Then, we had our typical snack. On this occasion, we (María, Mercedes, Censi y Ángel) had prepared a Saint Patrick’s Day photocall, as we would be celebrating this holiday at our school the following week.

As usual...It has been a pleasure!!!!!
